Abstract

In this article I will analyse the mechanisms of direct democracy present in our constitutional history. I hereby review the introduction and improvement of the referendum mechanism at a community level as of 1990 and the legislative apathy in the regulation of non-binding consultation. this study concludes with a reflection regarding the potential use of the mechanism and its inception in a representative type political and administrative system.
